Vehicle Description

The successor to the venerable Advance Design trucks form Chevrolet, the Task Force Series ran from late 1955 through 1959. The second series from 1955 – 1960, included the new body style – with the wrap-around rear windshield – a truck industry first. Power steering and power brakes were now available for the first time on GM trucks. The electrical system was upgraded to 12 volts. For 1958, the fleetside bed was offered and the front end was significantly re-designed. All 1/3-ton trucks were now called Apaches.  The truck now had 4 headlights instead of the previous 2 and featured a shorter, wider grille running the width of the front end. Parking lights were placed in the grille and the hood had the “valley” in the middle. It was the first year for factory-equipped air conditioning.

An original Barn Find - 'found" in 2003.  What a great example of the 1955 - 1960 Task Force Series from General Motors, featuring a 235Cu In I6 engine.

The last owner had it for 8 years and only put 9,000 miles on it - driving to shows only, where it won many times! It has the original paint and new brakes, wheel and master cylinders and radiator.

The oil has been changed every 1,000 miles (just like the old days!).  The seats were redone and the wooden floors were refinished. This original masterpiece runs and looks fantastic.

About Us

Branson Auto Museum was conceived in August of 2007 and opened on May 15, 2009. Partners in the Museum, knew that the Branson area was hungry for car and automotive related things to do. Branson Auto Museum was originally scheduled to go into a purpose built 20,000 sq. ft. building on the Strip. When the partners discovered that the former crafts mall the "Engler Block" was available, they knew it would be the perfect fit for what they were planning. The buiding is layed out in sections that wander through the building which is the ideal setting for a museum. The charm and character of the building also lends itself nicely to a museum.
