Vehicle Description

HISTORY

When Ford’s Model T and TT became obsolete and needed to be replaced, Henry Ford began initial designs on the Model A and Model AA in 1926.  Basic chassis layout was done rapidly and mechanical development was moved forward quickly.  Body design and style was developed and then outsourced to various body manufacturers, including Briggs and Murray.  The designs of the Model A shared parts and materials with the Model AA Ford, notably the body, engine and interior.  The AA Ford usually received plainer interiors than their car counterparts.

The Model AA Ford followed similar design changes that the Model A Ford underwent during the four year production, but often those changes followed on a delay, anywhere from three to nine months.  The mechanical changes and upgrades were done during production of the vehicles.  Body changes that occurred between 1929 and 1930 were also integrated into the Ford AA production, but leftover parts were used longer in the heavy commercial trucks.

DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATIONS

This beautifully restored, award-winning truck is the same as the truck used by the family on the popular television show, The Waltons.

This Model AA Dump Truck is powered by the same 201-cubic-inch (3.3 L) engine I4 that the Model A Ford used.  The engine produces a maximum of forty horsepower at 2,200 rpm.  The engine features an up-draft carburetor, six-volt generator, 2-blade fan, mechanical water pump, mechanical oil pump, electric starter and hand-crank dump bed. It features a 4-speed manual and reverse transmission and is classified as Heavy Commercial.

About Us

Branson Auto Museum was conceived in August of 2007 and opened on May 15, 2009. Partners in the Museum, knew that the Branson area was hungry for car and automotive related things to do. Branson Auto Museum was originally scheduled to go into a purpose built 20,000 sq. ft. building on the Strip. When the partners discovered that the former crafts mall the "Engler Block" was available, they knew it would be the perfect fit for what they were planning. The buiding is layed out in sections that wander through the building which is the ideal setting for a museum. The charm and character of the building also lends itself nicely to a museum.
