Vehicle Description

The 1976 Corvette was a part of the third generation or C-3, produced from 1968-1982. There were few changes in the 1976 Corvette, as engineering resources were occupied with meeting the demands of safety and pollution requirements while still managing to keep the character of the Corvette intact. The base 350ci engine horsepower rating was boosted 15hp to 180hp, marking the start of a long slow comeback to the performance of past years. The optional 350ci L-82 was rated at 210hp.
Engine output climbed for 1976, due to higher compression ratios made possible by a newly adopted catalytic converter. A new four-spoke steering wheel was added and the rear-deck air-extractor vents were removed. There were 46,558 Corvettes produced in 1976, all coupes as the convertible was no longer an option. The last year for the convertible was 1975 and it would not return until the 1986 model year.

This is a one of a kind car and one of the most unusual Corvettes in existence. It is half Corvette and half Cadillac Eldorado, hence the name “Eldorette”. A well known car builder, Mickey Vaughn of Chattanooga, Tennessee, built the automobile. It contains many aspects of a Corvette and an Eldorado. It has the original Corvette L-82 chassis with the 350ci 210hp V-8 and an automatic transmission. The turn signal lights have the Cadillac emblem around them. It also has the Cadillac vinyl top. The headlights are from a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass, the taillights are from a Chevrolet Chevette, the rear bumper is from a Ford Granada and the rear spoiler is from a Ford. The grill and front spoiler are hand laid fiberglass. Originally finished in White with Red velour interior and was re-painted in 2003 in Ford Mustang Firestorm Red and the Vinyl top was changed to Napa Red. It has a very unique fiberglass body and is not a kit-car. It is a one-off creation. Over $200,000 was spent in time and materials creating the molds and assembly of the automobile. All numbers match and it has just 60,214 original miles.

About Us

Branson Auto Museum was conceived in August of 2007 and opened on May 15, 2009. Partners in the Museum, knew that the Branson area was hungry for car and automotive related things to do. Branson Auto Museum was originally scheduled to go into a purpose built 20,000 sq. ft. building on the Strip. When the partners discovered that the former crafts mall the "Engler Block" was available, they knew it would be the perfect fit for what they were planning. The buiding is layed out in sections that wander through the building which is the ideal setting for a museum. The charm and character of the building also lends itself nicely to a museum.
